To make your Word document look like a notebook, you will need to start by modifying the document background. Go to the “Design” tab on the ribbon menu, and select “Page Color”. Select a light tan color as your background. Next, go to the “Insert” tab and select “Shapes”.

Go to Layout and select the Page Setup dialog launch icon at the bottom-right corner. On the Margins tab, change the setting for Multiple pages to Book fold.
