You can create your design in Canva’s editor in any way you’d like. Set a background, add images, and write some text. Lay it out the way you want your template design to look. If you’re making a universal template for multiple purposes, think of how the layout might change or be affected by new images or word lengths in the future.

Creating templates in Canva is done by saving your designs as templates. This is a Canva Pro only feature, though. When starting a project, you also have the option to make use of a blank project template that comes with predefined dimensions (for Insta, FB, TikTok, etc.)

On the homepage, use the search bar to look for the design type or size that you want to create. Click on it from the results. Scroll through the available templates. To preview one, hover your mouse over it and click the that appears. Select Preview this template. To use the template, select Customize this template.
