The Adidas logo has undergone several changes since the company’s founding in 1949. The original logo featured the name “Dassler” and was replaced in 1949 with “Adolf Dassler” and the words “Adidas” and “sportschuhe” in the lower part of the logo. The three stripes were added in 1967 and have become a defining feature of the Adidas logo.

Adidas' first logo was created by the company's founders, Adolf "Adi" Dassler and Rudolf “Rudi” Dassler. The logo, which features a bird carrying a sneaker, was inspired by the Dassler family crest, symbolizing the challenges that athletes face and conquer.

The original Adidas logo wasn’t quite as clear and straightforward, but it contained a spiked running shoe that sported the iconic three stripes. Later, in 1972, Adidas introduced its trefoil logo design, which is still used as a vintage logo today.

To resolve the dispute, Adolf Dassler, the founder of Adidas, purchased the trademark for the sum equivalent to 1,600 euro as of today and two bottles of whiskey. By the early 70s, the Adidas logo got three parallel stripes. As a result of the 1971 rebranding campaign, the company introduced a revisited emblem with a trefoil.

The original owner of the logo was Karhu Sports. However, Karhu Sports was hit hard by WWII, and short on capital, the owner agreed to sell Adidas the trademark to their logo for €1,600 and two bottles of whiskey. In 1971, the company unveiled the three-stripe Adidas logo in a form that resembled a leaf called the “trefoil.”
