  1. To perform a dumbbell back squat, you need to12:
    1. Stand with your feet about shoulder-width apart, toes turned slightly outward. Hold a dumbbell in each hand, arms by your sides, and palms facing inward. Brace your core, and pull your shoulders down and back.
    2. Bend your knees and squat down until your thighs are roughly parallel to the floor. Do not round your lower back.
    3. Stand back up and repeat.
    Alternatively, you can sink hips back and lower into squat until thighs are parallel to ground, keeping back straight and knees behind toes. Extend hips and knees to drive up out of squat position. Repeat for specified reps2.
