Sprite heavy games looked best on DC, a game like Shenmue wouldn‘t run on a PSP wihout sacrificing lots of texture quality, the same goes for the PS2. The DC>PS2 ports were mostly downgraded because the PS2 was lacking VRAM.

Jun 30, 2013 · The Dreamcast GPU was the NEC PowerVR2 DC with 100 MHz clock rate while the PS2 had a Graphics Synthesizer ( another GPU made by Sony like the Emotion Engine.) and had a 147.456MHz clock rate. Dramcast's RAM was 16 MB while the PS2's RAM was 32 MB. Looking at all of this, I'd say the PS2 is the stronger device.

Jun 23, 2008 · I only had the Dreamcast version until a couple months ago, when I got the PS2 version. It was so long ago since I played the DC one (for about a week when it came out on DC), I didn't really notice a visual/audio difference. I'm more used to the PS2 controls, so I'd say that one over the DC version.

Jul 4, 2019 · New 3ds *might* have a better CPU than wii but the gpu is still worse than cube or Xbox and even the ps2 in some cases. 3ds is a dreamcast - ps2 level machine. The original 3ds CPU was too weak to even have ice climbers in smash lol. Something tells me Wii still has the better CPU than new3ds but i have to do more research.

Jul 8, 2012 · The Ps2 has a rubbish video output, hence terrible image quality. Regardless of extra content, I wouldn't buy something as artistically iconic as Rayman 2 on it. Nintendo 64 version has excellent controls, and somehow the game just feels right being played on a Nintendo console. Again, the image quality is poor (but in a different way to Ps2).

May 4, 2020 · It didn't matter how successful the Dreamcast was at launch, it still needed to be even bigger in the coming years if Sega wanted to recover, but the Dreamcast simply had no chance against the PS2. It wasn't as powerful, it had no DVD playback, and it didn't have the brand loyalty or third party support that the PS2 would have.

Sep 3, 2004 · The PS2 port has bad sound quality, while the Xbox version does not. Both the Xbox and PS2 versions look a little sharper than the DC version. If you don't really care about 100% arcade "perfection," you'll be fine with the Xbox version. I wouldn't recommend the PS2 version because of the crappy sound quality.

Visually, it is only marginally better than the N64 version, and you can see that this game was a quick port (common for the time, unfortunately for Sega fans).
