  1. A Data Flow Diagram (DFD) is a graphical representation that illustrates the flow of data within a system. It shows how data enters, moves through, and exits the system, providing a clear understanding of the system's functionality and data processes.

    Key Components of DFD

    External Entity

An External Entity, also known as a Terminator or Actor, represents sources or destinations of data outside the system. These can be organizations, groups of people, or departments that interact with the system but are not part of it. For example, customers or banks.

    Process

A Process transforms input data into output data within the system. It is depicted using symbols like rectangles with rounded corners, ovals, rectangles, or circles. Processes are named using short sentences, single words, or phrases to convey their essence.

    Data Flow

Data Flow describes the movement of information between different parts of the system. It is represented by arrows, with each arrow labeled to indicate the type of information being transferred. Data flows can be unidirectional or bidirectional.
