Benthocodon is a genus of hydrozoans of the family Rhopalonematidae. The genus contains two known species: Benthocodon hyalinus and Benthocodon pedunculatus. These jellyfish are compact with a rounded top, called the bell. They are an unusual type of jellyfish that prefers an environment far out at sea at depths of more than 2,500 feet (762 meters), often right on the seafloor. Unlike many hydromedusae, these jellyfish do not have a sessile stage.
