  1. Ikurriña
    • According to 3 sources
The Ikurriña is a red flag with two crosses. The first is a green saltire that goes diagonal from the four corners. The second is a white cross that goes vertical and horizontal and covers the green in the centre. It is the official flag of the Basque Country Autonomous Community.
The Ikurriña, the flag of the Basque Country, goes beyond being a simple regional emblem. Created by Sabino Arana and his brother Luis in 1894, it initially represented Bizkaia but was quickly adopted as the symbol of the entire Basque Country.
Article 5 of the 1979 Statutes of Autonomy establishes the Ikurriña as the national flag of the Basque Country and also recognises the flags and insignias of the Historical Territories or Provinces that make up the Basque Autonomous Community.
