The Amur leopard is solitary. Nimble-footed and strong, it carries and hides unfinished kills so that they are not taken by other predators. It has been reported that some males stay with females after mating, and may even help with rearing the young. Several males sometimes follow and fight over a female.

Amur leopards are solitary and only females spend time with their offspring. They are usually active during the day during both the summer and winter seasons. Amur leopards are extremely conservative in their choice of territory. The territory of two individuals overlaps sometimes, but only slightly.

Amur leopards normally hunt at night and need large territories to avoid competition for prey. They silently watch their prey and ambush them using a burst of energy reaching speeds of up to 35 miles per hour. They then carry and hide unfinished kills, sometimes up trees, so that they are not taken by other predators.

Behavior Amur leopards are able to swim. When running they can reach 59.6km/h (37mph). Their main vocalization is a rasping call. Their only predator is humans who poach them for traditional medicines and their coat. They are persecuted for eating livestock and are threatened by wild fires and loss of prey.
