Flights at Luton Airport have resumed after a huge fire ripped through a terminal car park on Tuesday evening. The blaze caused the building to suffer a "significant structural collapse". Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service believed the cause was accidental. The fire started at about 20:45 BST and no serious injuries were reported.

A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage after a fire that destroyed more than 1,400 vehicles at Luton Airport. The blaze broke out on level three of Terminal Car Park 2 on 10 October. Bedfordshire Police said the man was released on bail while the inquiry continued.

The blaze broke out in Terminal Car Park 2 at about 20:45 BST on 10 October and "rapidly escalated". In a joint report, Bedfordshire's fire and police services said the most probable cause was an electrical fault or a component failure in a moving diesel vehicle. It became "overrun with flames" which spread to other vehicles, it said.

More than 100 firefighters battled through the night to extinguish the car park inferno, which left tens of thousands of passengers facing cancelled or diverted flights. Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service revealed on Wednesday morning the cause of the blaze was a diesel car.
