Ford's 2023 F-series Super Duty has become the Porsche 911 of heavy-duty pickups. Each offers no fewer than 18 models, has at least three engine options and four power outputs, sends torque to either the rear or all four tires, and is arguably the best at serving its overall mission.

With its newly redesigned Super Duty pickup, Ford can brag that it has a high-output diesel that cranks out a thunderous 1,200 lb-ft of torque, towing capability of up to 40,000 pounds, and a clever second set of rear parking sensors that works when the tailgate's open. The 2023 Ford F-350 Super Duty pictured here, though, has none of those things.

Since the EPA doesn't test vehicles as heavy as the Super Duty and its gargantuan competitors, we judge them based on our own testing. On our 75-mph highway fuel-economy route, a 2023 Ford Super Duty F-250 SuperCrew 4x4 with the high-output Power Stroke diesel achieved 20 mpg.

Ford's heavy-duty pickup truck is new from the tires up for the 2023 model year and gets revitalized engines in addition to its new looks. Under the hood, the 7.3-liter V-8 gets a revised air intake and refined tuning, and there's an all-new 6.7-liter Power Stroke V-8 diesel engine.
