 Your reading and summary of a case must therefore be directed at isolating the legal issue decided in a case, identifying the rule applied by the court to resolve that issue, grasping the reasoning that led the court to that formulation (i. the identification and use of sources of law), and understanding how the court applied the rule to the facts - how it resolved the legal issue.
