The best way to get started is to contact your local ski resort or the ski resort you'd like to work at and ask for opportunities, as well as contacting a national organization that provides ski patrol training: The U.S.: National Ski Patrol Canada: Canadian Ski Patrol Norway: Norske alpinanlegg og fjelldestinasjoner

For entry and training, you must be 15 in the US and 18 in the UK. You are required to study for first-aid training, as well as on-the-job training with the ski patrol organization in a local resort. It is also possible to train for more specialized patrol duties depending on the resort location.

You must first contact a local patrol, or the patrol you wish to work for. (access local patrols via our "Region" link in the above navigation) Pass a Ski/Ride evaluation (some patrols require this). Once the Patrol Director approves your application, you must join the NSP as a Candidate via the NSP Member website.

1. Find the regional ski patrol division nearest to you. 2. They will outline all the steps you need to become a candidate at the national ski patrol level. 3. From there, you will need to schedule the applicable courses to become a full-fledged ski patroller.
