In simple terms, players from each team take turns hitting a hard ball with a Rounder bat (similar size ball to that used in tennis rules). After striking the ball, batters will try to score runs by running around four (4) separate bases marked out on the field. As a rule, a Rounders game will last for a period of two (2) full innings.

The bowler bowls the ball to the batter, who hits the ball forward on the rounders pitch. The batter then runs to as many posts as possible before the fielders return the ball to touch the post the batter is heading for. If the batter reaches the 2nd or 3rd post in one hit, the batting team scores ½ a rounder.

The basic rules of rounders are fairly straightforward. The game begins with a toss to determine which team will bat first. The team that wins the toss will be the batting team, while the other team will field. The batting team will send their players to the home plate one at a time, in a predetermined order.

Rounders is typically played with two teams, each consisting of 9 to 15 players. The game is divided into innings, with each team taking turns to bat and field. The batting team aims to score runs by hitting the ball and running around bases to reach home safely.

Teams take turns to play two innings with all players having a turn at batting. An innings is over when all the batting players are either out or at a base. That means there is no-one left to face the next ball. Batters line up one by one to take their turn in the batting square. The bowler or ‘feeder’ throws the ball towards the batter.
