"An environmental group illegally blocked loggers and workers at a nuclear plant. Therefore, environmentalists are radicals who take the law into their own hands.

"One Hollywood actor made a politically ignorant comment; therefore, all actors are politically ignorant." Here, the hasty generalization fallacy is in action. Judging the political awareness of all actors based on one comment from one individual is not only unfair but also lacks sufficient evidence.

This form of logical fallacy plays out in politics and on social media, as well. Among notable examples in recent years was former U.S. President Donald Trump's generalizations about Mexicans, while he was still a presidential candidate.

The package-deal fallacy is best highlighted by the tribalism of American politics. If you are a republican, you favor less government control, so you would favor a women’s right to choose. As a democrat, you want the government to impose restrictions on guns and pollution, so you must be in favor of making abortions illegal.
