A flatter bridge makes fiddling techniques easier, such as chording, rapid string crossings, and shuffles. Modifying or replacing a bridge is easy to do. In contrast, a classical violinist prefers a bridge with a rounded curve, allowing them to express each note more clearly and easily.

The bridge on a fiddle is flatter than the bridge on a violin. This gives the fiddle a brighter sound and makes it easier to play double stops. The fiddle also has a slightly shallower neck angle, which makes it easier to play in a more relaxed position.
