A femoral-tibial bypass is used to bypass a narrowed or blocked artery in the leg. The bypass improves blood flow to the lower leg and foot. To bypass a narrowed or blocked artery, blood is redirected through a graft. The graft is either a healthy blood vessel that has been transplanted or a human-made material.

Aortobifemoral bypass is a form of vascular disease bypass surgery that surgeons perform in your abdomen (belly). It’s an open surgery that creates a new route (bypass) for blood to flow around narrowed or blocked portions of your arteries. This improves blood flow to your legs.

Femoral popliteal bypass. The surgeon reaches the femoral artery through a large cut (incision) in the upper leg. A vein taken from another area in your leg is attached above and below the blockage. This is called a graft. The blood is rerouted through the graft around the blockage.
