How good are ZooKeeper and Etcd? - Stack Overflow
Apr 17, 2016 · Another downside of ZooKeeper (and Etcd I assume, but I don't have hands-on experience with it) is they're hard to use correctly. For example, the ZK lock implementation in Apache Curator requires ZK's monotonically increasing suffixes feature, and watch flags, and tricks for avoiding one-to-all notifications, and checking for edge cases.
locking - ZooKeeper alternatives? (cluster coordination service ...
May 18, 2011 · I've also discussed service discovery with etcd & docker if you want to see more about what that custom code might look like. One last thing! etcd & consul are written in go, so maintaining them is much easier then java solutions like zookeeper. All you need is the consul / etcd binary. no dependencies, no linked libraries, no jvm.
What is the role of Zookeeper vs Eureka for microservices?
Feb 6, 2018 · Zookeeper is a common-purpose distributed key/value store which can be used for service-discovery in conjunction with curator-x-discovery framework. Here is a brief overview of service-discovery solutions. You can also find comparison of …
Leader election with: Etcd vs Zookeeper vs Hazelcast
Dec 4, 2018 · 2) Zookeeper doesn't suffer from the mentioned split-brain problem, you will not observe multiple leaders when network split happens. Zookeeper is built on ZAB atomic broadcast protocol. 3) Etcd is using Raft consensus protocol. Raft and ZAB have similar consistency guarantees, which both can be used to implement a leader election process.
What's the difference between ZooKeeper and any distributed …
Zookeeper is mainly used in HA implementation of Hadoop Namenode and YARN Resource manager here it takes care of promoting the active and standby status of these daemons, Kafka is designed to use Zookeeper for storing the topic and offset information. Detailed comparison between apache curator and etcd3
Oct 4, 2016 · Also,etcd3 and zookeeper use two different algorithms for consensus, ZAB and raft, where raft is less complex. I want to implement distributed locks, (use) watches and need to write a mechanism to share commands throughout the cluster using the watch api .

Mar 2, 2015 · Although Chef/Puppet and etcd/zookeeper/consul both can be used to build your infrastructure and for service discovering, the services and solution they offer are quite different. They are not confronted solutions and in fact can be used simultaneously, because the services they provide are different.
Performance difference in Redis vs etcdv3 - Stack Overflow
Aug 26, 2020 · - on redis : 70K QPS - on Etcd : 50k QPS But I am not able to understand how come Etcd is as efficient as Redis or is there anything wrong in my understanding? Reason for Etcd should have been much slower than Redis: Etcd might be making use of SSD but still Redis is in-memory DB, so should have been much high performant.
Leader Election : Consul vs ZooKeeper - Stack Overflow
Jan 23, 2019 · For service discovery, however, Consul seems to provide higher level constructs that are not out-of-the-box in ZooKeeper. In terms of leader election use case, both can be used. But given that ZooKeeper is used by many top level apache projects and it is also older than the Raft and therefore Consul, I hope it will have better community support ...
What is the difference between zookeeper and raft?
Dec 11, 2017 · Zookeeper uses Zab as the broadcast protocol to propagate state updates between nodes in the ensemble. So, if that makes sense, you should compare Raft against Zab or Apache Zookeeper against some other similar system like etcd.
