Jonah knew he had not obeyed. He told the men on the ship to throw him overboard. The storm stopped, and Jonah was swallowed by a large fish. Jonah prayed and repented. After three days the fish put him on dry land. This time Jonah obeyed the Lord and preached repentance to the people of Nineveh. They repented and were saved from destruction.

The Hebrew word means “to turn.” Jonah turned from his running and did what the Lord said. He went to Nineveh and delivered God’s message. So, yes, he repented.
