Most of the time the indentation is right except you happen to copy some code code from other sources or your collegue make something for you and has different settings. Then you want to just quickly convert the indentation from 2 to 4 or the other way round.

In JS I can close and function and everything in it has local scope anything out side it a larger scope. Simple. Python uses indentation which to me it still means code cleanliness. ::shrugs::. Jun 21, 2020 · When I type \section, I expect pressing enter to move the cursor to an indentation level of 1 on the next line (same for the other conditions, specified in TeXIndent), and this is not the case. Testing with a simpler function which returns 2 every time also lacks this behavior, so I suspect my approach is flawed.

Jan 6, 2016 · The short answer is: auto-indentation on editors follow established language guidelines, and what you are trying to do is not considered 'good practice' and thus has not been implemented in any editor (that I've seen at least). Longer answer: The C language does not have any indentation rules, so any indentation done is by established practice.

Dec 24, 2013 · The simple answer is that, unlike in those other languages, blocks in Python do not create scopes; only functions and classes do. So there is no "purpose" of scope in that sense. Indentation for most constructs only indicates block structure, not variable scope. –
