The crash that killed Georgia football player Devin Willock and recruiting staffer Chandler LeCroy early Sunday in Athens came after the 2021 Ford Expedition failed to negotiate a left curve, striking a curb with its front passenger tire, leaving Barnett Shoals Road and ultimately coming up against an apartment unit, according to a crash report released by Athens-Clarke County police Tuesday afternoon.

An initial investigation from the Athens-Clarke County police department found the Ford Expedition being driven by LeCroy "left the roadway, striking two power poles and several trees." Willcock was pronounced dead at the scene. LeCroy was transported to the hospital before dying from injuries sustained in the crash.

New video released Wednesday revealed the moments leading up to a car crash that killed a University of Georgia football player and recruiter in January. Police say Chandler Lecroy, 24, was driving two players and another recruitment staffer from downtown Athens when a rented SUV crashed, killing LeCroy and Devin Willock, an offensive lineman.

Documents from Athens-Clarke County Police indicate UGA staffer Chandler LeCroy died at the hospital following the crash. Police found Devin Willock dead at the scene. The crash happened around 2:45 a.m. along Barnett Shoals Road on Jan. 15 -- the day after UGA celebrated its championship win with a parade.
