May 4, 2015 · And then hit all around the control arm where the ball joint is with a hammer. This kinda give the control arm a “wake up” and the ball joint will hopefully move just a little bit. Tighten the c clamp back down, hit it again with the hammer. Repeat and then repeat until its out. It worked for me. Hopefully it’ll work for you.

Nov 22, 2011 · I had to replace every ball joint on a Thunderbird that I just bought. I found that it was almost as cheap and a-lot easier just to buy a new lower control arm. You also have the added bonus of having new bushings etc… My lower control arms were about $50 each with new ball joints and bushings. Much easier than trying to replace just the joint.

Oct 11, 2013 · On the opposite side you must use a sleeve that is larger than the ball joint so it can be pushed through. I have had cases where the smallest sleeve is too large for the ball joint and have pushed a few ball joints out by pressing on the stud, just be very careful and make sure everything is lined up straight.

Remove the caliper and brake etc. Rather than remove the lower ball joint simply remove the bigger bolt – the horizontal one – and slide the shaft of the ball joint out of the knuckle.
