We Can't Create a Timeline for This Report because it doesn't
Apr 20, 2016 · It sounds like excel is reading the date as text. Are the dates always in a dd/mm/yyyy format (10 characters long)? If so, you can probably just use a formula to convert it, and then use that within your pivots.

I am trying to figure out how to insert a line or formatted column that highlights the current day/date, updating everytime I open up the workbook. I have attached an image of what I'm trying to achieve.

I have checked the formatting of the column in the original table and it is formatted as a date with the data held as a numerical date (ie one of the cells is showing 44510 when formatted as 'General', but this shows as 10/11 ...

I'd like to be able to incorporate all of these date fields into one timeline slicer, which can then be used by the end user to view summary information. The date columns are chronologised and fed from four other data sheets.

Feb 5, 2015 · I've been trying to write something that would automatically fill in the appropriate cells on the timeline based on the entered start and finish dates. For example if the start date is March 15 and end date is April 15 the corresponding to those dates would be filled in green.

Sep 12, 2019 · I found info on using Transform - however now when I pull that column into my Pivot it wants to split the date into 3 columns; year, quarter and date initiated. The good news is that I can add a Timeline for that column, the bad news is it doesn't display the data in a useful format. 2 steps forward and 1 step back - it's the Excel cha-cha!

Nov 14, 2018 · I find that timeline slicers give you the whole of any year in which the dates fall - plus a couple of extra days for good measure! I was working on a sample dataset all in 2016 for a training course, with Order Dates from 2nd January to 31st December. The timeline slicer gave me the whole of 2016 (obviously) but also the whole of 2017.
