To be blunt: currently, there isn’t a way to hook up a disk drive to an Xbox Series S. Obviously, you’re able to physically attach a disk reader to the console, however, the Xbox won’t read any of the information on the disk.

Microsoft has its very own digital console with Xbox Series S, but as of yet, you cannot add any sort of disc drive to the console - a feature that Sony is bringing to the table in 2023.

Press the Xbox button  to open the guide, select Profile & system > Settings > System > Storage. If you don't see the Storage Expansion Card listed, remove the card from the back of the console, wait 30 seconds, then reinsert the card firmly into the Storage expansion slot.

With the right card, you can add extra storage, and games saved to the drive will load just as fast as those on the internal drive. All you need to do is turn off your Xbox, plug the card into the Storage Expansion slot on the back of your Xbox, and turn your console back on. Install any updates, and you will officially have more storage.
