Yuki Yoshioka's first run as Open the Dream Gate Champion was an enormous success and a best-case scenario for him, although some had predicted he would be the one to break CIMA's record for both the number of defenses and length of the reign.

Dia Inferno, in reality Yuki Yoshioka, voluntarily unmasked and revealed his identity to Shun Skywalker. This revelation led to the formation of Z-Brats and the alliance between Yoshioka and his former rival, Dragon Dia, who became D’Courage.

On February 29, Dragon Dia, alongside his peers Ben-K and Strong Machine J, secured the Open the Triangle Gate Championships. This was a painful reminder for Yuki Yoshioka, who debuted two years before Dragon Dia, that he was falling behind. He wanted a singles match with Dia on the March 5 Korakuen Hall show to prove his worth.
