We had the same situation and had to store our luggage at the hotel and then return to the hotel to collect our luggage before heading to the airport. I can tell you that the train to Wrigley field and the airport are efficient and helped keep everything on track.

When I went to Wrigley Field, I went by using the Red line train, I didn't notice any parking garages near the ball park. I believe there is a Marriot Hotel near there, it might provide parking for a price. But I would also check the Cubs website to see where there is parking and plan from there.
