Martin Parr CBE (born 23 May 1952) is a British documentary photographer, [3] photojournalist and photobook collector.

Parr’s term for the overwhelming power of published images is “propaganda”. He counters this propaganda with his own chosen weapons: criticism, seduction and humour. As a result, his photographs are original and entertaining, accessible and understandable.

Martin Parr was born in 1952 in Epsom, Surrey. He is one of the best-known documentary photographers of his generation. With over 100 books of his own published, and another 30 edited by Parr, his photographic legacy is already established.

In a career spanning over four decades, photographer Martin Parr is best known for his striking use of highly saturated colour in his work. His photographs often focuses on themes of class, consumer culture and leisure pursuits with a witty and gently satirical approach.
