The piano keyboard keys are laid out with the lower pitch notes to the left and the higher pitch notes to the right. So, if you play the note farthest to the left you will hear the lowest note the piano is capable of playing and then to the right the highest note on the piano.

The piano notes are arranged lowest to highest, from left to right. This means that the lowest note is all the way on the left side of the piano. As you move from left to right, each note is higher than the one before.

All types of pianos have the same basic layout when it comes how the keys are organized. If you look at a piano as a whole you will see that there are different colored keys. Look at the image below and you will see white keys and black keys. The white keys are the naturals and the black keys are the sharps and flats.
