Color temperature describes how warm or cool a white light is, as seen by the human eye. When a light has orange and yellow tones it is called warm white, when it is neutral it is called cool white, and when it gives off slightly blue tones it is called daylight white.

Daylight bulbs measure between 5,000K and 6,000K, producing light perceived as bright white. Soft white bulbs measure 2,700K to 3,000K, casting a warm, yellowish glow.

Soft white light bulbs, which are between 2,000 and 3,000 Kelvins, are slightly lower in temperature and emit a warm and cozy light. Daylight bulbs come in a few notches higher on the scale—between 5,500 and 6,500 Kelvins—and therefore have a cleaner, more pure white tone.

Daylight lighting invigorates and stimulates, making it ideal for areas where focus and activity thrive. Cool White lighting adds a contemporary touch and suits spaces where clean illumination is desired. On the other hand, Warm White lighting fosters coziness and relaxation, making it perfect for areas where you seek a calming atmosphere.

The color of a light bulb is measured using the Kelvin (K) scale. For example, warm white LEDs are 2700K to 3200K, daylight is between 4000K to 4500K, and cool white is between 5000K to 6200K.
