Solid foods at least twice or three times a day along with 25 to 32 ounces of formula or breast milk every 24 hours. You can start increasing the quantity and variety of the foods in your 8-month-old baby’s diet. You can also try introducing a sippy cup and finger foods. About 13 to 14 hours of sleep every 24 hours (including naps and overnight).

In general, an 8-month-old’s feeding schedule starts with formula or breast milk at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, plus a final feeding before bedtime. While babies who are breastfeeding might eat on a similar schedule to those who are formula-fed, breast milk has a different composition than formula, so babies can’t overfeed.

The American Academy of Pediatrics and La Leche League recommend the following feeding schedules and amounts for 8-month-olds. Solids: Offered 2 times per day or at family mealtimes Breast milk: Up to 8 ounces every 4 to 5 hours Formula: 7 to 8 ounces every 5 to 6 hours Your 8-month-old baby should be no stranger to solids!

Here are two different sample 8 month old feeding schedules based on 2 to 4-hour wake windows: Staggered Feeding Schedule With 3 Naps 7:00 AM – Wake and Milk 8:15 AM – Breakfast 9:00 AM – Morning Nap (2-hour Wake Window; at least 1 hour long) 10:00 AM – Milk (when they wake from their nap)
