The Phryges were officially unveiled as the mascots for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games on Nov. 14, 2022 in Paris. The mascots are named "Les Phryges" and represent French revolutionary Phrygian caps.

You will have seen the official mascot of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 everywhere. But what actually is it? The Paris 2024 mascots are called the Phryges, based on the traditional Phrygian hats that serve as a symbol for freedom.

Over 50 years later and 500 kilometers to the north, the 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics will be represented by a couple of cute red hats -- the Phryges. (Pronounced "FREE-jes".) The mascots, unveiled in November, are personified Phrygian caps -- soft, conical caps with the top bent forward.
