The Minnesota Timberwolves are trading Shake Milton, Troy Brown Jr. and a 2030 second-round pick to the Detroit Pistons for point guard Monte Morris, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Earlier this week, three players – Atlanta's Bogdan Bogdanovic, Washington's Tyus Jones and Brooklyn's Royce O'Neale – entered the rumor mill as potential "best fits" for the Timberwolves and a few other teams, and the belief from insider Jon Krawczynski is that Minnesota recognizes its rare chance as a true contender and could use that as a springboard to be aggressive before the Feb. 8 NBA trade deadline.

The Minnesota Timberwolves reportedly want to add another star to complement Karl-Anthony Towns and D'Angelo Russell. According to NBA trade rumors, they could use the No. 1 pick in this year's draft to trade for another star.

To make the deal happen, the Minnesota Timberwolves will have to part with their first overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, and exchange it for the Chicago Bulls' 4th overall pick. In compensation, the Chicago Bulls send Lauri Markkanen back to the team that drafted him.
